WELCOME BACK TO THE 1980'S

Recently we found some old VHS video tapes. I did not know what was on them. We converted the VHS tapes to a DVD and were we surprised to find some of the first videos I ever shot during  J&J Videos Productions infancy. In this group of videos we found the 1987 experiments we did with SONY, weddings and our first "reflections" video. We decided to put these videos on the site.  Remember this was the first foray into the world of video using an experimental editing suite and the first single tube cameras made for the event videographer during the early to mid 1980's.

THE SONY EXPERIMENT

This  59 second video trailer from 1987 is the final product from an experiment testing Sony's new DVE editor. A million dollar editing suite was the first one of its kind in the United States. J&J Video Productions shot and edited this trailer on the Sony DVE . This DVE was the first step in development of HDTV.

Our First Wedding

This wedding shot in 1983 is the first wedding video J&J Video Productions ever shot J&J Video Productions opened their doors in April 1983. This wedding was in June of 1983. There was a question as to how long a VHS tape would last. We still do not know! These tapes are at least 28yrs old and counting, time will tell.

This is a continuation of the same 1983 wedding. We have the wedding vows here in this particular video. What is remarkable here is the color. There is obvious fading but after almost 30 yrs in storage I was surprised this even converted from VHS to the DVD.

The Unity Candle

This is a continuation of the 1983 wedding. The unity candle was symbolic of 2 lives becoming one. Traditionally this took place right after the wedding vows.

Our First Reflections Video

This was our first attempt at a Reflections Video, This video was also a piece of the Promotional Video that J&J Video Productions-Cleveland Ohio produced in 1987.

Our First Engagement Video

This video is the first time J&J Video Productions ever shot a real engagement. We used a hidden camera. The couple went to the playground because that is where they met as kids. The Engagement Ring was hidden by a soda can.

A Wedding Cake Smashing

Here is a wedding video produced by J&J video Productions-Cleveland Ohio showing the cake smashing. It became "fashionable" during this time to smash the wedding cake in the faces of the best man and the maid/matron of honor.

 The Bridal Dances

Here is a rare look at the bridal dances. This was before the DJ revolution where bands were the rule and not the exception. By 1990 bands were becoming scarce because Brides and Grooms were using DJ's, who were more affordable and the music choice was almost unlimited.
